William Hill

William Hill are one of the world’s most popular bookmakers, having been established nearly 100 years ago and remaining a constant piece of betting industry furniture ever since. They offer a first-class betting service across a range of sports and the number of pre-match and In-Play betting markets available tends to surpass their competitors.

The homepage displays several Euro 2012 betting opportunities and the In-Play service is noticeably superior to several other operators, with more live markets being offered than anywhere else. William Hill is now one of the most exciting online gaming brands in the business.

When it comes to bookmakers with experience, they don’t come any bigger than William Hill. The company was originally founded in 1934 and, like main competitors Ladbrokes, operate over 2,000 licensed betting offices in the UK. In addition to shops and online, Hills have a huge telephone betting operation and claim to now have over 500,000 customers.

William Hill is one of the most trusted betting brands in the betting industry and have been listed on the London Stock Exchange since 2002. The firm now have 18,000 employees based in the UK, Ireland, Gibraltar, Israel and Bulgaria. The sportsbook operation was transferred from the UK to Gibraltar in 2009, saving the company millions of pounds per year in tax.

Odds and Markets

William Hill are similar to Ladbrokes with respect to their football and horse racing prices. Due to their massive number of shops, their online odds are fairly cautious compared to the likes of bet365 and Paddy Power. However, you can generally place a decent-sized bet with this firm without being limited. If there are best odds with Hills, then they tend to be the outsider in a football or tennis match rather than the favourite.

Football and horse racing are the two big sports for William Hill, with the firm offering an impressive range of markets for the former – sometimes over 100 pre-match opportunities. There are almost too many ‘goal’-related markets to choose from and many of these are also on offer when the game goes In-Play. Similarly, Hills are on the money with their horse racing service and they are very competitive when it comes to offering each-way value. Their market range for sports such as tennis, basketball and cricket is also pretty impressive.

The William Hill website is nice and quick, with the firm currently deciding to put In-Play markets on the homepage, something which isn’t a bad idea as more customers start to bet during the match than before it. Indeed, the In-Play section is pretty formidable and you can always see how many markets there are available on how many events across a number of sports. At the time of writing, Hills were offering 555 markets which is very competitive. You have the option to display all In-Play sports or you can choose from the drop-down menu.

There’s a lot of other information on the homepage, with the sports all listed in two horizontal menus. The first one contains core sports such as horse racing, tennis, soccer and cricket, while the one below features the sports where presumably there is less extensive coverage. Then there is another horizontal menu and you can almost miss the fact that William Hill stream so much live sport. They show soccer, tennis, basketball and many other sports through WHTV and also live horse racing.

Customer Service

This isn’t clearly marked out on the William Hill website, although if you click on the ‘Help’ link at the top of the page, you can choose from 170 FAQ’s or alternatively get in touch with them through live chat, email or telephone. They are available on a 24/7 basis and can resolve your query pretty quickly, irrespective of what time or day it is.
