Germany make a start to their Euro 2012 campaign tonight when they take on Portugal.
Germany coach Joachim Loew has a full squad to choose from after captain Philipp Lahm and midfielder Sami Khedira returned to training.
Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker suffered a knock in training on Thursday but is still expected to start, as is midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, who missed their warm-up friendlies after suffering a calf strain during last month's the Champions League final.
Portugal also have a fully-fit squad to choose from after Manchester United winger Nani recovered from a foot injury.
The two sides will meet for the second consecutive European Championships after Germany knocked out Portugal in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008.
The Germans come into the tournament as many people’s favourites to win their first European Championship title since 1996 and Loew’s side had a hugely impressive qualifying campaign, winning all ten of their games, and scoring six goals on two separate occasions along the way.
For the Portuguese, many of their fans will be looking towards Real Madrid superstar and team captain Cristiano Ronaldo for inspiration in the so-called “Group of Death”.
Portugal had to qualify for Poland and Ukraine through the play-offs where they defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 6-2 on aggregate. They earlier finished second behind Denmark in qualifying, only getting through to the play-offs on goal difference.
